When he was only six years old, Lorenzo did his first braid. He remembers it clearly because not only did he surprise himself that he could do it, he felt great joy when his “model” was so delighted with the result. At the time, Lorenzo was living in his native Mexico, but a year later, he came to the United States. In school, Lorenzo always excelled in art. In 2018, Lorenzo enrolled in Curve Metric School of Hair Design where he eagerly soaked up the theory and hands-on experience of doing hair. When graduation came, Lorenzo took high honors in his class and promised his teacher, Ms. Ramos (who recognized the great teacher in him), that he would someday become an educator and help develop aspiring stylists. After beauty school, Lorenzo landed at Mynd Spa (formerly Elizabeth Arden Red Door) where he worked as an assistant among some of Chicago’s top stylists—absorbing everything he could. When Covid shut down Mynd, Lorenzo found Andreas Hogue. He calls this a “pivotal” point in his career saying that for the first time, he was given the education and confidence to take his skillset to the next level. “Thanks to Andreas, I finally feel I am where I need to be.” Lorenzo is a talented balayage artist, a wonderful colorist and good with haircuts of all types. In his free time, Lorenzo enjoys gardening and painting.
